(Krantisinh Nana Patil College of Veterinary Science)

Krantisinh Nana Patil College of Veterinary Science, unique in its placement on a totally rural background, was established under the auspices of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri in the year 1988.

With the establishment of MAFSU the institute was transferred under its control in the year 2001.

The institute was basically established to cater the needs of  people in ten districts of Western Maharashtra region.
This region of the state is rich in animal husbandry activities and surpasses the other regions of the state in almost all aspects of livestock and poultry industry viz. total livestock and poultry population, milk, meat and egg production.

Academic Programme

More than 500 students have completed B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree programme while more than 20 students has completed their M.V.Sc. in Veterinary Science from this institute till date. About 20 students are perusing their MS and PhD in Veterinary and Animal Science, Molecular Biology various counties like US, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland.

The research work taken up by the institute is based largely on the needs of the farmers of this region. Some of the ongoing projects include;
Characterization & Conservastion
       of Pandharpuri buffaloes
Bacteriological studies on bovine
Prevalence of haemoprotozoan
       infections in cattle
Evaluation and use of locally
      available poor quality fibrous


The institute has achieved a remarkable progress despite of a number of constraints, especially in providing an excellent academic environment to the students who have consistently performed well not only in the university level examinations but also in the competitive examinations conducted at State and National level. The students of this college have regularly done well at ICAR JRF/PG entrance test.
